Year 7 Scholarships
Recognising the outstanding talents of current Year 6 students and their passion for learning and leading.
Eligibility
Scholarship applications will be assessed based on the following criteria and on any relevant personal circumstances:
- academic excellence in a range of subjects in primary school
- outstanding contribution to the community life of their primary school and/or the wider community
- participation in extra curricular activities, for example sporting or cultural activities.
Value
The value of the scholarship is $4,000 to assist in covering tuition fees during Years 7 and 8 ($2,000 per year over 2 years).
Application Process
Formal Letter of Application: Students are to submit their application of 300 words or less which outlines their achievements in the above categories and should be accompanied with supporting documentation (this could be in the form of a reference letter from their Primary principal, reports, certificates and images of competition trophies). Letters should be written by the students themselves.
Scholarships for current Merici College Year 10 Students and Future Year 11 Students
The Merici College Board grants a number of scholarships to students entering Year 11 at Merici College. All students in our current Year 10 cohort are welcome to apply, as well as new students applying to Merici from outside the College.

Eligibility for all scholarships
Scholarship applications will be assessed based on the following criteria and on any relevant personal circumstances:
- academic excellence in a range of subjects
- outstanding contribution to the community life of the school and/or the wider community
- participation in extra curricular activities, for example sporting or cultural activities.
Eligibility for specific scholarship
- must compete in either state or national level in at least one sport of their choice
- must provide evidence of level of competition and achievements in that sporting field
- scholarship must be supported with a letter of reference and evidence from coach/manager or mentor
Scholarships available are:
- Kath Pentony Scholarship (Mathematics)
- The Melissa Van Poppel Scholarship (Science and Duke of Edinburgh)
- The St Ursula Scholarship (Languages and Arts)
- Merici College Sports Scholarship (Specific)
- Merici College Board Scholarships (Holistic Study).
Value
All standard Scholarships (Melissa Van Poppel, Kath Pentony, St Ursula, Sports, and standard Board scholarships) are valued at $4,000 to assist in covering tuition fees during Years 11 and 12 ($2,000 x 2 years).
Full Board scholarships cover the Diocesan School Fee and General Fee as per the College Fees Breakdown Schedule.
Application Process
Formal Letter of Application: Students are to submit their application of 500 words or less which outlines their achievements in the above categories, nominating a category/ies of scholarship as appropriate.
Year 12 Vocational Education and Training Scholarship
A scholarship for a current Merici Year 11 student who is excelling in the area of Vocational Education and Training (VET).
Eligibility
The scholarship will be awarded to a student who meets one or more of the following criteria and on any relevant personal circumstances:
- a student undertaking an Australian School Based Apprenticeship (ASBA)
- a student completing external vocational qualifications
- a student completing multiple school-based vocational education qualifications.
The following academic and community requirements will be taken into consideration:
- at least a C grade average
- strong work ethic and application to study
- no voids in any BSSS courses
- outstanding contribution to the community life of the school and/or the wider community
- participation in extra curricular activities, for example sporting or cultural activities.
Value
The scholarship will be to the value of $2000 to assist in covering tuition fees during Year 12.
